A versatile and very capable singer who has been performing since childhood to audiences around the world. This Diva has brought the sweetness of India, the sensual, the playful, and a unique voice that reaches you all beyond any language.
Shama is one of very few artistes who can boast having had her own band at the tender age of 10, and performed regularly on Voice of Kenya T.V. before moving to the U.K. Having received her vocal training from Smt. Swati Natekar and Smt. Krishna Chakraborty, Shama went onto developing her own voice and style. Shama is also the only UK artiste to have performed at the prestigious Diwali on Trafalgar Square celebrations 4 years in a row. This event attracts crowds of over 30,000 each year.
Shama became a brand name in her own right in 1994 as she set out with the very popular bollywood band, Shama and Friends, wowing audiences in South America, Caribbean, West Africa, Dubai, Europe and nationally over most of the UK over the next several years. She has also performed alongside artistes from the Bollywood music industry like Anup Jalota, Sukhwinder Singh, Nitin Mukesh, Mangal Singh to name a few…
Having worked on several albums with her songs heard in movies in several countries, not forgetting sessions with artistes like Geri Halliwell, better known as Ginger Spice for her debut album Schizophonic, Shama has now re-launched herself, and debuted her single, Maahi, with a fresh new sound with her new band.
The Journey for Shama and her band began in early 2009, although they have all been professionals in the industry for several years, bringing influences from the Bhangra, Bollywood, Urban and World Fusion music circuits. It is a sound which is unique and exciting.
Audiences have been wowed by their breathtaking performances since coming together in 2009 and the response has been amazing.
